BMW Service Folsom

BMWs have a different service schedule based on the year and model of the vehicle. At Angelo's, our Folsom BMW technicians will analyze your vehicle and determine what items are due to serviced or replaced. Below is a generalized breakdown of the service schedule for a typical BMW, but each car differs according to the year, model, mileage, and the driver. Angelo's Performance Plus always uses the highest-quality OEM original equipment when servicing your car. Call us today to discuss your BMW service needs.

BMW Synthetic Oil Change and Filter Replacement

We recommend the use of synthetic oil for most of their vehicles. In newer BMWs, the CBS (Computer Based System) on your dash will alert you when its time to change the oil-typically every 7,500 miles. This figure is lower in older models. If you don't drive your car very often, you still need to change your oil at least once per year, as the oil will break down over time.

When you have your BMW oil change performed at Angelo's, we'll let you know ahead of time when you'll be due for another oil service.

We always follow BMW's specifications for oil and filters and type to determine what should be used for your year and model, so you can be secure in knowing that your car will continue to operate at peak performance.

Automatic Transmission Flush

We know that you care about your car, and like you, we want it to run as perfectly as it did the day you purchased it. One of the most sensitive and important pieces of equipment in your car is the transmission, which is what allows your car to change gears. Transmissions take a lot of abuse over time, but can continue to work smoothly for many years as long as they are properly cared for and maintained. A great way to maximize the lifespan of your transmission is by scheduling a transmission flush at Angelo's for your BMW-typically, you want to flush the transmission every 40,000 to 60,000 miles.

When we flush a transmission, we remove the old transmission fluid and flush it with cleaning fluid, which removes dirt, grime, and other contaminants that can build up over time. We then remove the pan and check it for any signs of wear, and clean out any gunk that has settled on it. Lastly, we replace the filter and fill your transmission up with clean, fresh fluid.

BMW Air Filters and Cabin Filters

At Angelo's, we always check to make sure that your air and cabin filters are clean and operating as they should be. Air filters are incredibly important when it comes to ensuring that your engine runs at peak performance and gets good gas mileage, while cabin filters keep the air in the cabin of your car clean and free from particulates and other irritants. We'll let you know when they're due to be replaced.

BMW Brakes and Brake Fluid

Your brake fluid should be changed at least every two years, but if you drive a newer BMW, your CBS will tell you when you're due. Changing your brake fluid on a regular basis regardless of how much you drive is important for a key reason: brake fluid breaks down over time, and causes your brakes to work less effectively. When brake fluid is replaced as needed, your brakes will wear evenly and last much longer.

Additionally, water absorbed by the brake fluid can cause corrosion throughout your BMW's brake system, further degrading your car's ability to brake effectively.

It's wise to bring your BMW into Angelo's on a regular basis, so that we can check the fluid, as well as the condition of the brakes. We'll make sure that everything is in proper working order, and tell you when the brakes and/or brake fluid need to be replaced.

BMW Spark Plugs

The lifespan of spark plugs depends upon the quality of the spark plug, as well as the material it's made out of. Angelo's will check your spark plugs when repairing your BMW or diagnosing a problem. Typically, we replace spark plugs every 40,000 to 60,000 miles.

BMW Fuel Filter Replacement

In older BMWs, fuel filters should be replaced every 60,000 miles or so-though this can vary, depending on BMW's recommendation-or when your fuel pump is replaced. Angelo's always uses the OEM filters that are recommended by BMW for your year and model.

In newer BMWs, the fuel filter is only replaced when there is evidence of breakdown or malfunction.

BMW Belts and Tensioners

Your BMW belts should be checked over on a regular basis. What our technicians look for are signs of wear or cracking in the rubber of the belt. Exposure to dry climates can dramatically shorten the lifespan of a BMW timing belt. Also, rubber tends to harden if it sits for long periods of time, so if your vehicle has been sitting in the garage undisturbed for quite some time, have the belts checked over immediately. In daily use vehicles, timing belts are usually replaced every 30 to 60 thousand miles, but for the reasons mentioned above, this figure can vary widely.

Do NOT neglect the belts in your engine, especially the timing belt. If you come into Angelo's to have your oil changed, and our service technician says that your belt is cracked, have it replaced IMMEDIATELY. Our goal is to keep your car in perfect working order, while keeping your cost to an absolute minimum. We will never recommend unnecessary repairs.

BMW Coolant Flush and Replacement

Having the coolant in your BMW's radiator may seem like an unnecessary hassle. But, like a number of other BMW service items that are easily overlooked, it's worth it to spend a few extra dollars in preventative service and maintenance, rather than pay fifty times as much to repair the damage after the fact. If the coolant in your car's radiator evaporates or breaks down, your engine can overheat, resulting in irreparable damage. Bring your car into Angelo's, and we'll make sure that the coolant in your radiator is working as it should be. We usually replace engine coolant every 4 years, or when there are visible signs that it should be replaced.
